Unknown Studio Kicks off Olmsted 200 Celebrations at Longwood Gardens
Join Unknown Studio’s Claire Agre at Longwood Gardens’ bicentennial celebration in honor of renowned Landscape Architect Frederick Law Olmsted. To mark this anniversary, the National Association for Olmsted Parks is leading the nationwide Olmsted 200 celebrations in recognition of Olmsted’s enduring influence on our cultural landscape, quality of life, and civil society.
Two days of festivities will be kicked off with Claire’s talk on September 24; “Engaging Olmsted: Designing Landscapes for the Next Century.” Claire will share select examples of Unknown Studio’s work in public and cultural landscapes, many of which marry Olmsted-era design principles with contemporary issues of equity, resilience, and connectivity.
Carillon Musicians Ellen Dickinson and Geert D’hollander will perform an Olmsted-inspired carillon piece, and Dede Petri, CEO and President of the National Association for Olmsted Parks will share her lecture “The Genius of the Place: A Look at Frederick Law Olmsted” on Sunday September 25.
