Anthony Watley Landscape Designer
Anthony Watley was born and raised in New Orleans, a city deeply intertwined with and attuned to the rhythms of its dynamic landscape. His interest in the connection between humans and nature stems from his experiences growing up in such an environment. After a decade in real estate sales and utility regulation in Louisiana, he earned a Master’s in Landscape Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin in 2024. This shift allowed him to merge his undergraduate background in Biology and his Louisiana horticulture license with his passion for the intentional design of built environments. While enrolled Anthony was awarded the competitive University Graduate Continuing Fellowship for his compelling personal statement, well-defined research focus, and notable achievements in his program.
Anthony views landscape design as a form of performance study that reveals deeper insights about culture and place. His practice is driven by curiosity, exploring how landscape architecture can deepen our understanding of ourselves and our relationship with both the living and non-human elements of our environment. His personal philosophy emphasizes a profound respect for the natural world, seeing the transformation of land as both an honor and a humble responsibility.
